Implementing a diversified collection strategy involves acquiring a diversified collection of rare rum barrels across different types of barrels, producers, regions (both production and aging environments), liquids, and aging profiles. This strategy is designed to reduce risk and increase the chances of more value to the club's Rare Rum Collection by spreading across various barrels and minimizing the impact of any individual barrel's performance.
To implement this strategy, we consider the following steps:
Identify our goals: maximizing value to the society & collection, minimizing risk, and balancing both. This will help us determine the appropriate level of diversification for our collection and to choose the most suitable barrels for our collection objectives.
Research the market for rare rum barrels: we identify trends, opportunities, and risks. This involves reviewing industry reports, consulting with experts, and gathering data on prices, demand, and supply. This will help us understand the landscape we are collecting in and identify the most attractive barrels for our collection.
Select a diverse range of barrels: we select a diverse range of barrels for our collection. This will involve purchasing barrels from different producers in different regions with different aging profiles and levels of risk and value. We consult with experts and use various tools and resources to help us make informed decisions.
Manage and review our collection: After we have selected a diverse range of barrels for our collection, it is crucial to manage and review our collection continuously. This will involve monitoring the performance of our barrels every year (yearly tastings with our team of experts), adjusting our collection as needed to reflect changes in market conditions and our goals, and conducting regular reviews and analyses. By regularly reviewing and managing our collection, we can ensure that it remains aligned with our goals and objectives and that our collection remains well-diversified.
Considering risk management measures: As with any collection, it is important to consider risk management measures. This involves purchasing insurance for our barrels, implementing storage and security measures (working together with the distilleries, as we will normally age in the same distilleries that the liquid is distilled in), keeping track of the physical assets and aging environment (tokenization of each asset & including a chip with GPS, temperature & humidity reading on each barrel), and diversifying our collection across a range of barrels with different levels of risk and value. By mitigating risk, we will protect our collection and maximize our experience.
Our diversified collection strategy is a proactive and disciplined approach to collecting rare rum barrels, which involves researching the market, selecting a diverse range of barrels, and regularly reviewing and managing our collection.
The Rare Rum Collection will include rums of different profiles, including provenance, liquid type, type of aging barrel, and aging environment. The portfolio will also include rums of different ages to try and rotate the barrels for efficiency.

Provenance: The countries where they are produced
Liquid Type: Pot Still, column still, agricole, Latin/British/French style, etc..
Aging Barrel Type: New American/French Oak, Ex-Bourbon, Ex-Mezcal, Sherry/Jerez Casks, and many more unique ones.
Aging Environment: Continental, Tropical, High/Low Humidity, Transcontinental, Oceanographic, etc..
