Collection Process
Our approach to the Rum barrel acquisition
Rare Spirits Society's collection-building process involves a disciplined approach that prioritizes quality and diversification and a sound risk management framework to protect the collection's value.
The process begins by identifying and partnering with distilleries that produce high-quality premium spirits with a low price point for their product. The team of experts at Rare Spirits Society conducts thorough due diligence on each potential partner distillery to ensure that their spirits meet the strict quality standards of the society.
Once a partnership is established, Rare Spirits Society works closely with the distillery to select the best un-aged rum casks for acquisition. The team of experts uses their expertise to identify barrels that have the potential to age well and appreciate in value over time based on factors such as the quality of the spirit, the type of aging barrel, and the aging environment.
Once we identify a specific distillery to work with and a group of selected rums with value potential, we start sensory evaluations and chemical analyses conducted by our rum sourcing team to ensure the quality of each barrel of Rum.
We then consider the market demand for the particular rum profile and the overall market conditions to ensure that the collection is well-diversified and has the potential for long-term value appreciation.
By leveraging the power of blockchain technology and engaging members in the decision-making process, Rare Spirits Society creates a unique and rewarding experience for its members. The team of experts filters the collectibility potential options and presents them to members, who then have the opportunity to vote on which casks they believe are best to invest in.
A voting system is in place to engage members in the process. Each member can vote for every round of adding new rum barrels to our Rare Rum Collection based on the selection presented by the sourcing team. The rum sourcing team will have a higher weight in the voting process as their expertise is crucial to selecting the correct assets to collect.
The process is designed to be transparent, democratic, and focused on long-term value appreciation. After all the votes have been cast within the stipulated timeframe, the purchase will occur and finalize the process with the distillery.
Members receive regular updates on the status of the Rare Rum Collection, including the aging process, market conditions, and potential exit strategies. This ensures transparency and builds trust with the members, who clearly understand the decisions and potential risks and rewards.
